Pokeballs are the basic necessity to become a trainer in every Pokemon game including Pokemon Go. Here’s a guide to collecting more Pokeballs in Pokemon Go so you never run out.

There are different types of Pokeballs in Pokemon Go with Ultra Balls being the most efficient for catching Pokemon. Similarly, you get special Pokeballs to catch Shadow Pokemon after defeating a Team Go Rocket grunt or leader.

All in all, you cannot catch a Pokemon without Pokeballs and you never know when a rare Pokemon like Azelf might appear. Hence, it is always better to be prepared for an encounter.

Methods to get more Pokeballs in Pokemon Go

Gifts from friends in Pokemon Go often contain Pokeballs. Accordingly, it is wise to have as many friends as possible and share gifts with them constantly. This will also help in increasing your friendship levels which eventually helps in getting Lucky Pokemon.

Field Research tasks

Pokemon Go players can collect Pokeballs as rewards for completing Field Research Tasks. Every Research has a different set of rewards, but there’s a high chance that it includes Pokeballs.

For instance, the Bug Out! event in August 2022 granted a ton of Pokeballs, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls to players for catching Bug-type Pokemon.

Pokestops and Gyms

It is safe to say that Pokestops and Gyms are the most reliable source of Pokeballs in Pokemon Go. They can drop 1-3 Pokeballs every time you spin them, and you can repeat the process every few minutes.

Hence, if there’s a Pokestop or a Gym near you, make sure to spin it whenever possible. Do note that tapping on a Gym will first show its defender Pokemon, and you can access the spinner from the symbol on the top left corner of the screen.

Leveling up also hands out Pokeballs as rewards but we haven’t included that in the list because you basically level up by catching Pokemon. As a result, leveling up is not exactly a solution when you’re running out of Pokeballs.
