In Overwatch 2, queue times are usually between 1-10 minutes, depending on factors like skill level, your region, party size, and the mode you’re looking to play. If you’re jumping on the Role Queue for Competitive and Quick Play in OW2, you can see the queue times before hitting the Ready button.

Queue times for Competitive

Open Queue for OW2 Competitive Play takes about five minutes to find a match if you have a Gold or Platinum rank. Keep in mind that a majority of the player base has a Gold or Platinum rank.

If you’re a Grandmaster, Champion, or even a Top 500 player, queue times might be longer for you in Overwatch 2, especially during odd hours like early morning or late night.

How to fix long queue times in Overwatch 2

There’ve been countless instances of players facing queue times upwards of 20 minutes in Overwatch 2, and if you’re facing a similar issue, here are the ways to go about fixing it:

  • Check the Overwatch 2 server status using Downdetector or Blizzard’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
  • Check the stability of your internet connection. It’s best to restart your router if you’re having any doubts.
  • The first few placement matches in Overwatch 2 take longer than usual, and you can expect to find matches a lot faster after unlocking your rank.
  • Queue for matches during regular hours, which can be any time between 10 AM to 11 PM. Queue times for any mode are a lot longer during early mornings or late night, in our experience.
  • Full stacks or five-squads take a lot longer to find a match, due to the game finding another full stack for the enemy team. Solo queues are usually the fastest way to find matches.
  • If you’re on Xbox and your account has a low reputation, you’ll experience longer queue times in OW2. This isn’t managed by Blizzard so make sure your Xbox Live reputation is decent.
