Nickmercs reveals the best Sniper for Warzone Season 1

While the DMR still reigns supreme in Warzone Season 1, those looking to wield a different sniper while searching for wins have a new option thanks to Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff’s Kar98k loadout.

Warzone is currently dominated by the DMR Marksman Rifle from Black Ops Cold War, which is so powerful and has such little recoil that it almost feels unfair to pick enemies off with it. The meta continues to be a controversial one, with many calling for the weapon to be given a significant nerf in the next update for the battle royale mode.

Should the devs finally decide to do so, it seems that the Kar98k will be the go-to weapon of choice for true long-range gunfights once again, with NICKMERCS testing it out again in his latest video.

The Kar98k was a popular choice in Season 5 and 6, and with no major nerfs to make it less powerful, the only reason it isn’t a feature in players’ loadouts right now is the power of the DMR, but even now this sniper rifle can compete if you have the right loadout.

“This thing has always been the big ‘dingaling’ in Warzone for as long as I can remember,” explained the FaZe Clan star. “The Kar98 has always been the fastest way to put someone down.”

“Even with all the new guns being added, [enemies] still don’t stand a chance. Sniping is so satisfying. It’s not always the best option, but if you want to have some fun, sniping in Warzone is a fantastic way to do that.”

In his gameplay, NICKMERCS showed that the Kar98k was still an incredibly dangerous weapon in the right hands, picking enemies out of the sky with ease, and finding double and even triple kills with the sniper. You can check him out in action below, and get a breakdown of NICKMERCS Kar98k class.

NICKMERCS’ Kar98k Loadout

  • Muzzle – Monolithic Suppressor: Stay hidden from radar and get bonus damage at range. A must for all weapons in Warzone.
  • Barrel – Singuard Custom 27.6″: Extra damage range with added bullet velocity. Makes long-range headshots easier to achieve at the cost of movement speed.
  • Laser – Tac Laser: Extra aim down sight speed, weapon stability, and steadiness, but leaves a laser visible to enemies when aiming down sight. You’ll also show a glint when sniping, so the lasers upsides heavily outweigh the downsides.
  • Optic- Sniper Scope: Turns the Kar98k from a regular bolt-action rifle to a long-range sniper that awards marksmen.
  • Rear Grip- Stippled Grip Tape: Extra aim down sight speed and sprint to fire speed makes this a medium/long-range weapon hybrid.

Tips For The Field

  • Hot feet only – Don’t be afraid to play aggressively. The exceptional aim down sight speed in combination with the Kar98k’s sprint out speed makes this a quick scoping machine. Aim for the head and watch enemies fall instantly at all ranges.
  • CRACK! – Can’t hit a headshot? Aim for the upper body. The Kar98k is an armor cracking machine. Pair it up with an SMG of choice for easy combo kills. Crack armor, then rush with an SMG when in medium-range engagements.
  • Accuracy and timing – Headshots are instant downs with the Kar98k. Memorize bullet drop at long ranges and be sure to time your shots when in the heat of battle. Missing a shot can result in catastrophe while chambering the next round.
