How to hit stick in Madden 24

Madden 24 provides players with multiple defensive moves, such as the hit or cut stick, to bring a rival run to a sudden stop. Check below for the inputs and the best tips to keep in mind when executing these movements in your Madden 24 games.

Every seasoned Madden player knows that offense is just 50% of the game and that the other 50% lies with the mastering plays on defense. A strong offense ensures many opportunities to score touchdowns, but a solid defense will shut down your opponent’s chances.

Just as there are moves that help ball carriers on offense, there are also moves for defenders who face off against those runners, such as the hit or cut stick movements.

If you’re not familiar with these moves, here’s what you need to know in order to execute them correctly in Madden 24.

Madden 24: How to hit stick

To perform a hit stick tackle in Madden 24, simply hold up the right stick when your defender is approaching the ball carrier.

Your defender will execute a powerful hit to the upper body of the rival runner. If the hit stick tackle is successful, the opposing player will be forced to move backward in the opposite direction of the hit and potentially cause a fumble.

Madden 24: How to cut stick

To perform a cut stick in Madden 24, you should hold down the right stick as you approach the ball carrier.

Similar to the hit stick move, this is also a power hit. However, in the cut stick move, the defender will aim to impact the legs of the runner.

This type of hit is often used when the opposing player has just received the ball. It should also be used when you are controlling a defender who is smaller compared to the ball carrier.

Using the cut stick over the ball carrier in Madden 24 is a sound strategy if the timing is right.

It’s worth noting that both movements are not guaranteed, and if you’re up against a very fast and agile runner, they could easily avoid the tackle attempt, leading to a significant chance to gain yards or even score a touchdown.

That’s all you need to know about the hit stick and cut stick moves in Madden 24. If you’re interested in learning more about Madden 24, check out our other related guides.
