College Football 25 lets you redshirt players in Dynasty, or have your custom player get redshirted in Road to Glory. EA Sports’ latest release pays close attention to detail in their recreation of the college sport, which is why redshirting is a proper mechanic instead of an afterthought.

By redshirting a new recruit, you can save their four years of eligibility, and place them in your starting roster in future seasons. If you’re wondering about how it works, here’s how to redshirt in College Football 25.

Redshirted players will train with your team and retain their eligibility.

It’s important to note that you can only redshirt players who’ve played up to four games. By redshirting a player, you won’t be able to use them in any games during the ongoing season. However, they’ll still participate in training sessions and develop their abilities. This action will let you preserve their four years of eligibility.

There’s no direct way to get a redshirt in Road to Glory. Instead, you’ll have to earn it by playing less than four snaps throughout the season and ranking at the bottom in the position depth chart.

If you’re dead set on getting a redshirt, we recommend committing to a five-star or four-star college where getting playing time is much harder. Also, avoid using any earned skill points and upgrading your abilities since that could mess up your redshirt status.

Should you redshirt players in CFB25?

In college football, players can only stay on a team’s roster for four years. This is where redshirting comes in, as it lets coaches preserve the four-year eligibility of players who are yet to break into the starting roster but are highly rated prospects likely to shine in future seasons.

If you’ve recruited a 5-star talent who’s currently on the fringes of your team, redshirting would be a wise choice. This would let him train with the team and learn the ropes while still being eligible to play four full seasons in the future.

With that said, you should be wary of redshirting players who demand regular playing time. The Transfer Portal feature in Dynasty allows less satisfied players to head elsewhere, meaning you could lose members of your team, especially senior players if you redshirt them.

That was how to redshirt players in College Football 25. There’s more to Dynasty mode than just recruiting and team management, so make sure to check out the best defensive and offensive playbooks to set your side up for success.
