Dragon’s Dogma 2’s optimization has been the biggest complaint about it since its launch, with many players struggling with crashing and low FPS issues. Here’s how you can potentially fix these problems on your PC to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 smoothly.

Despite Dragon’s Dogma 2 being one of the most hyped releases of 2024 players were keen on exploring the open world and taking on a bunch of quests. However, the launch party has been cut short after a massive influx of complaints from PC players regarding its optimization.

Many PC players are concerned with low FPS, and stutters during gameplay as they have complained about experiencing unplayable frames during their playthrough. Although the devs have assured players that they’re working on it, it might take some time before the optimization is entirely completed.

Here’s how to fix low FPS, freezing, and crashing issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to improve FPS and fix crashes

Upgrade your graphics driver

Perhaps the most important step before launching any latest title like Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to upgrade your GPU driver. More often than not, players tend to ignore their driver version and try to run games on an outdated driver.

Doing so, players can achieve unsatisfactory performance, so it is recommended that you take a look at your driver version, make sure to upgrade it to its latest version, and then launch the game.

Use optimized settings

Using optimized graphical settings in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a very important step as many players have been quite dissatisfied with the optimization in the game. Even if you might have a beefy GPU like an RTX 4080 or RX 7900XTX, you should aim to use the best PC settings possible to get the most frames out.

However, keep in mind that you will still get stutters and occasional frame drops in the wilderness and Capcom has promised to look into this matter as swiftly as possible. Lowering resolution and graphical settings is not enough before the first patch.

Make sure to use DLSS/FSR

Many people might not prefer to use upscaling in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to preserve every bit of quality and fidelity but not using upscaling would not be a clever decision if you want good performance.

Depending on your GPU, DLSS or FSR might improve the overall frames significantly and we recommend using the “Performance” upscaling mode in the menu to get the best results.

Kill the NPCs

Generating the large number of NPCs in Dragon’s Dogma 2 might prove to be a bit difficult for your CPU, which will in turn harm your frames. However, many players have found a solution, and that is to go on an NPC killing spree to get a performance boost in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

As mentioned earlier, Capcom have already acknowledged the complaints and are working on fixing them. Until the devs release an official patch, it is unlikely that the situation will be entirely solved for every PC user on the planet.

This was everything you had to know about the best ways to fix low FPS, freezing, and crashing in Dragon’s Dogma 2. For more on the game, check out our other guides:
