Genshin Impact released Sangonomiya Kokomi as a dedicated five-star healer and she has gradually gained prominence among players. This Kokomi build guide will help you unleash her true potential through the best weapons, artifacts, and team.

Every Genshin Impact character can fulfill some roles like damage dealer, support damage dealer, attack buffer, shielder, and healer. Sangonimya Kokomi is a five-star character that specializes in healing and belongs to the Hydro element like Ayato.

From being the only five-star healer in Genshin Impact to a negative Crit Rate, there are many reasons why Kokomi wasn’t received well by the community initially. However, with the rise of anti-shield enemies and Dendro reactions, the five-star Hydro Catalyst user has finally become relevant.

On that note, here’s a guide that’ll help you build Kokomi in Genshin Impact with the best weapons, artifacts, and team.

Kokomi’s abilities in Genshin Impact explained

Elemental Skill

Kokomi’s Elemental Skill in Genshin Impact is:

Summons a “Bake-Kurage” created from water that can heal her allies. Using this skill will apply the Wet status to Sangonomiya Kokomi.

Basically, Kokomi summons a healing companion that also deals Hydro damage to nearby opponents. The healing is based on Kokomi’s max HP.

Elemental Burst

Kokomi’s Elemental Burst in Genshin Impact is:

Summons the might of Watatsumi, dealing Hydro DMG to surrounding opponents, before robing Kokomi in a Ceremonial Garment made from the flowing waters of Sangonomiya.

This is an on-field ability that buffs Kokomi’s Normal, Charged, and Elemental Skill damage. When she hits opponents with any of these attacks, all allies in the team gain health. The attack buff and the healing are based on Kokomi’s max HP.

How to play as Sangonomiya Kokomi in Genshin Impact

Based on her kit, Sangonimiya Kokomi can do two things brilliantly in Genshin Impact: Hydro application and healing. You can expect some decent damage after applying her Elemental Burst but it’s better to use her as a support unit that can help you trigger reactions consistently.

It is important to note that one of Kokomi’s passive talents allows her to reset the Elemental Skill’s cooldown when she uses her Elemental Burst. However, for this to happen, her Bake-Kurage must be on the field when you use the Burst.

Hence, in an ideal rotation, you should use:

  1. Kokomi’s Elemental Skill
  2. Bring out the main damage dealer and other support units
  3. Use Kokomi’s Burst before the Skill ends
  4. Use the Elemental Skill again
  5. Deal damage to opponents as Kokomi to heal party or bring out the DPS if you’re using Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer.

This way, you’ll get maximum heals and the damage buffs from the Burst at the same time.

Because Kokomi’s healing and damage are based on her max HP, we’ll be focusing on artifacts and weapons that grant her the most HP.

Best artifacts for Kokomi in Genshin Impact

Kokomi with two of the best artifacts for her in Genshin Impact

Four-piece Tenacity of the Millelith

The four-piece Tenacity of the Millelith artifact set in Genshin Impact grants 20% HP to Kokomi and increases the ATK and shield strength of party members after using her Elemental Skill.

While making this set, focus on getting as much HP% stat as possible followed by Hydro DMG and Healing bonus.

Four-piece Ocean-Hued Clam

The four-piece Ocean-Hued Clam set in Genshin Impact grants a 15% Healing Bonus and summons a Sea-Dyed Foam that deals AoE damage based on the amount of HP Kokomi has recovered.

Healers in Genshin Impact are often criticized for their low damage output and the Ocean-Hued Clam artifact set was released to grant damage-dealing capabilities to healers. Kokomi is no exception as you use this set to increase her damage.

As for stats, we recommend getting maximum HP% followed by Hydro DMG Bonus and Energy Recharge.

Two-piece Tenacity of the Millelith and two-piece Ocean-Hued Clam

If you want Kokomi to have high damage and healing simultaneously in Genshin Impact, we recommend using two-piece Tenacity of the Millelith and two-piece Ocean-Hued Clam. You’ll get a massive HP boost from the former and a Healing Bonus with the latter.

While this hybrid set is best for Kokomi as a dedicated healer, you might miss out a little on the damage.

Best weapons for Kokomi in Genshin Impact

Kokomi with three of the best weapons for her in Genshin Impact

Everlasting Moonglow

The Everlasting Moonglow is a five-star Catalyst tailor-made for Kokomi. It increases Healing Bonus and increases ATK based on the wielder’s max HP. At Lv. 90, it grants a baffling 49.6 HP% which is the most desirable stat for this five-star healer.

Prototype Amber

The four-star F2P weapon Prototype Amber works like a charm with Kokomi thanks to the HP sub-stat. Because you also need Energy Recharge for quickly recharging Kokomi’s Elemental Burst, the Energy regeneration by Prototype Amber’s passive skill is great.

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer

Yes, a three-star Catalyst called Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer is one of the best weapons for Kokomi in Genshin Impact. It grants HP% through the sub-stat and the passive skill will buff the attack of the character that you use after Kokomi.

In most cases, you’ll be using your team’s main damage dealer after applying Kokomi’s skills. This explains why Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer is a better option than many four-star and five-star Catalysts in the game.

Best team compositions for Kokomi in Genshin Impact

Ganyu, Kokomi, and Nahida in Genshin Impact

Dendro bloom team – Kokomi, Nahida, Nilou, and Sucrose

This team focuses on utilizing the Bloom reaction in Genshin Impact that occurs when Dendro is applied to enemies affected by Hydro. Both Kokomi and Nahida can apply their respective elements brilliantly and Nilou can take up the role of an on-field damage dealer.

Sucrose increases the Elemental Mastery of the entire team and you can replace her with Dendro traveler, Xingqiu, Kazuaha, or other Dendro/Hydro support units.

You can shake things up by introducing Electro characters to this team in place of Sucrose. This will allow you to trigger a Hyperbloom reaction by applying Electro. The best Electro characters for this role include Kuki Shinobu, Yae Miko, Dori, Fischl, and Raiden Shogun.

Perma-freeze team – Kokomi, Ayaka, Sucrose, and Rosaria

As the name suggests, this team utilizes Kokomi’s outstanding Hydro application by permanently freezing the opponents. Use Kokomi’s Skill to apply Hydro to opponents and follow up with a Cryo attack by Rosaria or Ayaka to freeze them.

Thereafter, it is as simple as pressing the attack button while your opponent stands defenseless. The perma-freeze team works best against small groups of enemies and every character has an equally powerful alternative.

For instance, Ganyu can replace Ayaka, Venti, and Kazuha can replace Sucrose, and Cryo and Hydro support characters can replace Rosaria.

Electro-Charged team – Kokomi, Beidou, Fishl, and Sucrose

Kokomi is a perfect character for Electro-Charged team compositions that are usually called a Taser team by the Genshin Impact community. Both Fischl and Sucrose work perfectly off-field and you’ll be rewarded with constant Electro application and damage buffs.

Kokomi can either be the Hydro enabler or the main DPS in the team. If she’s the enabler, you must have a solid Electro DPS and the best options include Beidou, Raiden Shogun, and Yae Miko.

While the teams mentioned above complement Kokomi’s playstyle, she’s herself a very versatile character. Therefore, feel free to place her in any team that requires a healer or Vaporize/Melt-based teams with Pyro damage dealers.
