Bloons TD Battles 2 consists of a lot more than just unlocking Monkey Towers and facing waves of balloons. To help you reach the Hall of Masters quickly, here’s a beginner’s guide explaining all major in-game mechanics like Eco, Bloons, loadouts, and strategies.

Bloons Tower Defense games have never failed to impress gamers with their action-packed gameplay and the franchise seems to be in a brilliant state since the release of Bloons TD Battles 2.

There are different arenas in Bloons TD Battles 2 where you and your opponent send waves of balloons toward each other. The goal is to stop the balloons from reducing your life points and use your Monkey Towers to survive longer than your opponent.

If you’re a Bloons TD Battles 2 beginner, this guide will help with the basics by providing valuable tips and tricks.

What are Monkey Towers & Heroes in Bloons TD Battles 2?

There can be over 40 rounds in a Bloons TD Battles 2 match.

There are 22 Monkey Towers in Bloons TD Battles 2 and they’re divided into the following categories:

  • Primary
  • Military
  • Magic
  • Support

Towers essentially help in stopping the waves of balloons and you can upgrade them with XP. All Monkey Towers have unique abilities that perform better or worse in certain maps. As a result, you’re expected to constantly switch loadouts and come up with new strategies.

High-tier upgrades cost a lot of XP which is why you should be spending this resource wisely.

Bloons TD Battles 2 also has four Heroes that level up automatically during battles. It is recommended to place them on the field as quickly as possible. When you start the game, we recommend using Quincy (Hero) until you level up enough to unlock better heroes.

As of March 2023, Bloons TD Battles 2 has the following Heroes:

  • Quincy
  • Gwendolin
  • Striker Jones
  • Obyn Greenfoot
  • Captain Churchill
  • Benjamin
  • Ezili
  • Pat Futsy

Before the match begins, you can choose one Hero Monkey Tower and three standard Monkey Towers.

How to maximize Eco in Bloons TD Battles 2

Your Eco in Bloons TD Battles 2 is the in-game currency that you get every six seconds to send more balloons toward your opponent. There are two ways to get more money in the game:

  • Use Monkey Towers like Banana Farm.
  • Send balloons to your opponent’s screen.

The green quantity in the top middle of the screen signifies your Eco. It is 250 at the start of the game and you can increase it through planning.

Relying on the Banana Farm tower to improve your Eco isn’t the best strategy in Bloons TD Battles 2. Instead, it is better to use the tower slot for a more defensive tower and make a Bloons-sending strategy that maximizes Eco.

Reliable Bloon pattern to maximize Eco

A standard strategy used by many players in the community is:

  • Send grouped Red Bloons from rounds 1-3.
  • Switch to grouped Blue Bloons during rounds 3-5.
  • Use Spaced White Bloons during round 6.
  • Send Spaced Black Bloons during rounds 7-10. You can use Spaced White Bloons in this phase and it won’t impact the output significantly.
  • Send grouped Green Balloon from the start of round 10 and continue doing so until you reach 1000 Eco.
  • Switch to grouped Yellow Balloons at 1000 Eco.
  • Switch to grouped Pink Balloons at 1500-2000 Eco depending on your situation.

Many beginners question the usage of Red Bloons over Blue Bloons in the early rounds. The answer is simple: grouped Eco is more time efficient. Grouped Bloons can be sent quickly and they increase the rate at which your Eco grows.

This is a pattern that might work in the majority of battles but of course, once you’re skilled enough, you can take improvised decisions as well. For more on the aforementioned Eco method, you can check out this video by YouTuber H2K Titan:

Do note that maximizing Eco is not always the best thing to do. In case your opponent uses a MOAB rush or other aggressive strategies, you must sacrifice the Eco and prioritize defending to save the game.
