How to give a hired specialist a command in Fortnite: Quest guide & locations
One of the Fortnite Spring Breakout event challenges tasks you with approaching a hired specialist and then giving them an order. Here’s how you can give a hired specialist a command in Fortnite.
Fortnite events bring brand-new content to the battle royale title, and Chapter 4 Season 2’s Spring Breakout event introduced characters known as hired specialists that can aid you during matches.
The event also brought new challenges that players can complete in order to earn free rewards, and one of them requires you to give a hired specialist a command. We’ll go over how you can get this done.
Where to find hired specialists in Fortnite
There are eight different NPCs that are hired specialists in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, and you’ll need to approach one of them before interacting with them in order to hire them to be part of your team for this Spring Breakout Quest.
Here are all the hired specialist locations in Fortnite:
- Garrison: At Watery Watch in the southwest corner of the map
- Longshot: At Royal Ruin, west of The Citadel
- Polar Patroller: By the frozen lake west of Brutal Bastion
- Remedy: At Secluded Spire, southwest of Slappy Shores
- Triage Trooper: South of Lonely Labs
- Sludge: At Steamy Springs
- Munitions Expert: At Breakwater Bay
- Insight: At Cold Cavern, northwest of Brutal Bastion

After you’ve recruited a hired specialist, you need to bring up the command menu by pressing the button that’s under your name and health bar. Once that’s done, you can command them to follow you, wait, head to a specific location, or revive you.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Recruit a hired specialist in Fortnite.
- Press the command menu button.
- Take a look at the different commands available.
- Select any command that you like.
Once this is done, the hired specialist will follow the command that you gave them, and this Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2 Spring Breakout event Quest will be marked as complete.
