Erling Haaland in EA Sports FC

EA Sports FC is due to arrive later this year and a new leak seems to have revealed who will be replacing Kylian Mbappe as the cover star.

Following the end of the partnership between FIFA and EA, the new EA Sports FC series is set to mark the beginning of a new era for football games. Classic features like Career Mode and Ultimate Team are set to return, but there will also be plenty of changes.

Leaks have hinted that Ultimate Team could feature both male and female players, while a number of new leagues and licenses are also likely to help to bring even more authenticity to the game.

Now, it seems that the developers are kicking off their new series with a new poster boy, as leaks appear to have revealed the EA Sports FC cover star ahead of the official announcement.

EA Sports FC cover star leaked

According to a report from French leaker billbil-kun, picked up by Insider Gaming, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is set to replace Kylian Mbappe as the EA Sports FC cover star. This comes after the PSG striker appeared on the box every year since FIFA 21.

Following the leak, known FIFA insider Donk Trading added that the special editions of EA Sports FC will feature “31 players” on the cover, including Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior and Brazil legend Pele.

There is currently no word on who else could appear on the box for the EA Sports FC Ultimate Edition. FIFA 23 featured Chelsea attacker Sam Kerr alongside Mbappe, marking the first time that a women’s footballer appeared as a cover star.

Based on the players that have leaked so far, the devs seem to be keen on including players from all corners of football, both past and present. So, don’t be surprised to see more representatives from the women’s game join Haaland on the cover.

Of course, this is all based on leaked information so far, so be sure to take it with a pinch of salt. EA Sports FC is due to be officially revealed in July, so we shouldn’t have to wait long before the cover star is announced.
