How to obtain the Hawkmoon Exotic in Destiny 2: Beyond Light
The Hawkmoon is one of the most powerful and desired weapons in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. So we have a full guide on how you can obtain the Hawkmoon to make it yours.
Despite being announced early on in Beyond Light’s lifecycle, the Hawkmoon actually took quite a while to turn up. But the powerful weapon is very much in the game and it’s well-worth earning.
To do this, you’ll have to go through many steps to get there. But if you are able to succeed in your mission to obtain it, you’ll be rewarded with an excellent Exotic Handcannon at the end of it.
Hawkmoon Exotic Handcannon
Originally appearing as an option in the first Destiny, the Hawkmoon was a popular handcannon and fans have been asking Bungie to bring it back in Destiny 2.
Well, those prayers have been answered as it is now in Beyond Light, although you will need the Season Pass to access it.
Here’s the long road to get the Hawkmoon.
As The Crow Flies mission
Your first goal is to trigger the “As The Crow Flies” quest. To do this, you must have a conversation with Spider, and this means traveling to Tangled Shore and accepting the quest.
Finding the five feathers
The quest simply starts off by having you collect feathers. These are special paracausal feathers that light up with a yellow glow. Now for their locations.
Feather One
An easy one to start, simply head outside of Spider’s Lair and it should be sitting on a container near the exit. Collect it and return it to Spider.
Feather Two
Now it’s time to explore as you’ll need to go to the EDZ and make your way to The Sludge spawn. There is a building that gives a perfect vantage point of the entrance to the Hallowed Grove Lost Sector, head up there and you’ll find the feather resting on the ground.
Feather Three
Again, you need to travel but this time to the Cosmodrome. You’ll need to access it from The Steppes landing area. As soon as you’ve arrived here, turn around to look at a solid, concrete pillar. The feather is actually just at the top of the pillar. Simply climb up and number three is now yours.
Feather Four
For this one, you’ll need to make your way to the entrance of the Blind Well, accessed via the Dreaming City. Once you see the big gates, head to the left side of them and you’ll see the feather lying on a wall. Take it. One to go.
Feather Five
Naturally, they save the most difficult for last. For the final feather, you’ll need to make your way to the Shrine of Oryx. Go to the spawn point where you find Eris Morn. Keep going through the Moon Tunnels and arrive at the Shrine. make your way to the other side of the room and our final feather is by the stairs.
Head back to Spider’s place
Now that you’re back where it all started, take the feathers and talk with the Crow. He will now give you your next task, completing the Let Loose Thy Talons Quest.
Completing Let Loose Thy Talons & Cry From Beyond
In order to complete your main mission, you’ll also need to complete a little side mission called Cry From Beyond located in the EDZ. It’s a fairly simple quest that results in you getting part of the Hawkmoon.

Once the mission is done, head back to the Crow, talk to him, and he’ll set you on your way to the next step.
50 Orbs of Power
With the Hawkmoon effigy now in your possession, it needs power. So Crow tasks you with accumulating 50 orbs. To do this you’ll need to use Masterwork weapons and head to a good Lost Sector packed with enemies you can easily demolish. You need 50 points in total (1 point per orb) and you get one for getting a double kill with a Masterworked weapon, and another for picking up the orb you’ve created as a result.
Talk to Crow again
Return to him after you’ve successfully completed the orb task and he’ll give you yet-another objective.
EDZ & Crow
Now it’s time for the Crow to take you on a tour of his home, during which you’ll be collecting more feathers. Don’t worry though as these aren’t hidden and are basically gift-wrapped for you to claim. Keep going and defeat the boss at the end of your adventure, then speak to Crow again.
Defeat Champions or Guardians
Comfortably the most time-consuming and difficult task of them all. It’s entirely up to you which route you choose to go down, but in any event, one of them will need to be done. Once you’ve killed a certain amount of these and fulfilled the requirements, it’s now time to retrieve your prize…kind of.
Finishing the Hawkmoon
Once more, head to The Sludge in the EDZ and you’ll need to do a couple of small tasks and collect some more feathers. When that’s done, you will have one final boss to vanquish. Do that and the Hawkmoon will finally be yours to keep forever.
As we said, it’s not the easiest Exotic Weapon in the world to acquire, but it’s a rare Exotic for a reason. Follow our guide, have some patience, and the Hawkmoon handcannon will be yours.
