Destiny 2 Lightfall max Power level

Destiny 2 Lightfall and the start of Season 20 raises the Power cap, soft cap, and Pinnacle cap once again. Here’s everything you need to know about the max Power level in Destiny 2.

After months of build-up, Destiny 2 Lightfall is finally here, kicking off Season 20: Season of Defiance. The newest chapter in Bungie’s ongoing looter shooter delivers fresh weapons and gear to find, as well as a brand-new Raid to challenge even the most seasoned Guardians.

As is the case with each big Destiny 2 update, Lightfall also raises the max Power cap that players can hit, along with the soft cap and Pinnacle Power level.

So, if you’re wondering how strong your character can become from now on, here’s a breakdown of the Power cap in Destiny 2 Lightfall.

Destiny 2 Lightfall soft cap

The soft Power cap in Destiny 2 going forward in Season 20 is 1,750. This means almost all rewards and new gear will increase your Power level until you hit that specific milestone.

Hitting the soft cap is the easiest phase of the Destiny 2 grind, as just playing the game normally will constantly reward your Guardian with items to make them stronger, whether it be rare drops or completing missions.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Power cap

Following the release of Destiny 2 Lightfall and the start of Season 20, the new Power cap is 1,800.

Once you’ve hit the soft cap of 1,750, the only way to progress to the Power cap is by earning Powerful or Pinnacle gear. This slows things down considerably, as many of the drops won’t be rare enough to raise your overall Power level.

Luckily, there are a handful of activities in Destiny 2 Lightfall that offer Powerful gear:

  • Weekly Nightfall challenge
  • Three Dares of Eternity
  • Prime and Exotic Engrams
  • Complete eight vendor bounties
  • Gambit, Vanguard, Crucible, and Banshee rank rewards

Destiny 2 Lightfall Pinnacle cap

Destiny 2 Lightfall GuardianDestiny 2 Lightfall increases the Power cap once again.

The new Pinnacle cap for Destiny 2 is 1,810, giving players another 10 levels to grind to reach the absolute highest Power level. Once you hit this prestigious milestone, there’s no way to level up further until a new update or expansion increases the cap.

Once you’ve hit the max Power level in Destiny 2, progressing towards the Pinnacle cap requires you to find and equip Pinnacle gear. These are some of the rarest items in the entire game, so you’ll have to work hard to your hands on them.

Again, there are some objectives that can offer Pinnacle drops in Destiny 2 Lightfall, check them out below:

  • Hawthorne rewards and bounties
  • Complete three Crucible matches
  • Complete three Gambit matches
  • Spire of the Watcher
  • Score 100,000 on the weekly Nightfall
  • Hit 250,000 on the Dares of Eternity
  • Iron Banner challenges
  • Beat the Raid

It’s worth keeping in mind that these drops are limited every week, so we recommend not earning them until you’ve already hit the max Power level to ensure you’re getting the most from each reward.
