Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Review Round-Up

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is live worldwide, and with that, major press outlets have shared their review and opinions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

In this post, we’re collecting together some of the reviews of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.:

  • GameInformer: 9.5/10 — “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 makes a sacrifice that’s sure to be off-putting to some with the lack of a campaign, but the surrender of tradition comes with sweeping and significant benefits. Blackout is the best battle-royale experience available today, zombies offers crazy customizable co-op, and multiplayer keeps things grounded for those looking for the classic core.”
  • Venture Beat: “I enjoy the Call of Duty experience, from the feel of the weapons to the fast-action gameplay that throws you into the action. Call of Duty works best when it throws a diversity of experiences at you. The multiplayer game accomplishes this with the constant duels between the Specialists. The Zombies experience will keep you trying to survive for just one more round. And Blackout could provide an endless set of crazy and fun experiences. I hope that Treyarch and Activision see this as a new jumping off point, with frequent updates to add new experiences and maps to Blackout and the other modes. But we’ll see just how much the Call of Duty community appreciates what Treyarch has done.”
  • GameSpot: Score Pending – “Sure, there isn’t a traditional single-player campaign, but Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 isn’t short on content, and its three main modes are substantial. With standard multiplayer and Zombies, it struggles to fully commit to moving forward, and the mix of old content and new ideas doesn’t always gel. From what I’ve played so far, Blackout more successfully incorporates elements of Black Ops’ past while forming its own take on trends of the present. But because each mode is deep in its own right, I’ll be spending more time with Black Ops 4 post-launch before posting my final review.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 currently has the highest metacritic score for a Call of Duty game in years, sitting at 87 score on the site based on critic reviews thus far.

We’ll update this post are more reviews come in.
