Activision buys up China-related COD Domain Names

Joysitq is reporting that Activision has bought many domain names in relation to their reach in getting Call of Duty to China. On June 25, 2012, Activision added more than a dozen names to its portfolio. Here are a couple of domains that were registered by Activision through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor:

-blackopschina.com
-bochina.com
-callofdutychina.com,
-modernwarfarechina.com

-and several others that are Chinese phrases.

We don’t know if Activision is doing this to protect their brand name, or if this is hinting at the name for a Call of Duty China online free-to-play game. It’s already been confirmed that a Call of Duty game for China is the works.
