A Baldur’s Gate 3 player has discovered that you get a very different interaction with Shadowheart if you decide to wake her after recruiting Astarion.

At the start of Baldur’s Gate 3, you find yourself on a beach after escaping the Nautiloid. The first companion you find is Shadowheart – given you decided to save her in the Nautiloid. Mostly, it makes sense to help her up and add her to your party, so many players have not discovered different interactions with her when you do so.

One player, however, decided to leave her there and recruit Astarion first. When they returned, they took control of Astarion and went to get Shadowheart.

‘Luna-298’ posted about it on Reddit. “If you wake Shadowheart with Astarion instead of Tav and try to convince her to join the party, she’ll say ‘You’re not the one to talk to, are you? Not really. I can feel it in your head. You’re following someone else’s orders. I’ll deal with them, not you,’” they explained.

From there, they asked “What now?” and Shadowheart replied with “I have to get moving, perhaps our path may cross again later,“ promptly leaving without joining the party.

Baldurs’ Gate 3 fans were surprised at the interaction, as it was unlikely that many players would decide to go exploring before recruiting Shadowheart officially. She is, after all, the first person you see when you land on the beach in Act 1.

There are some people who decided to leave her on the beach and recruit her later in the grove, however. “I leave SH on the beach. I really like her dialogue in the grove, when you don’t have Lae’zel in party and you saved her from the pod. She is so genuinely happy to see you, it’s the sweetest recruitment path,” a fan commented.

Fans enjoyed these revelations, with another one saying, “She’s like ‘a strange man is talking to me!’ idk why that is freaking hilarious… now I want to approach all companions with Astarion as my Tav just watches lmao.”

Once again, players were left stunned as Larian Studios seemingly thought of everything. We will keep you updated with more interesting plays and interactions that are found as players continue enjoying their time in Faerun.
