Sony has long had a partnership with Activision giving PlayStation CoD players exclusive content and items, so following Microsoft’s acquisition, players are now wondering if Xbox will operate similarly.

Although Call of Duty offers crossplay functionality, PlayStation users can enjoy exclusive benefits not accessible to those on Xbox and PC. These encompass exclusive game modes, early access to beta versions, additional create-a-class slots, unique Operators, and a new Combat Pack with each season.

These PlayStation-exclusive benefits are set to end in 2024, and with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard now approved, Microsoft clarified whether there will be Xbox-exclusive content in Call of Duty.

Will Xbox have exclusive Call of Duty content?

No, Xbox won’t have exclusive Call of Duty content. As stated by Phil Spencer in February 2023, the “same version of Call of Duty” will be available on all platforms.

During the interview, Spencer gave a flat “no,” when asked if there would be Xbox-exclusive content and said that there won’t be a “skin on a gun” or a “mode” that’s only available to Xbox players.

Luckily for fans, Microsoft’s takeover of the Call of Duty franchise will convey several changes allowing players on every platform to enjoy the popular game saga. This retains the availability of the games on all platforms at the same time, the return to Nintendo platforms, the expansion to cloud gaming services including the Xbox Game Pass, and finally, the elimination of exclusive content.

Following Spencer’s statements prior to the agreement, Microsoft is pushing to “make the best version of Call of Duty for any player of those [PlayStation] platforms, making sure those players have a great experience on the platform they choose to play on.”

Further, they clarified that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation and come to Nintendo and GeForce Now, and with Sony’s Call of Duty exclusivity deal ending in 2024, Modern Warfare 3 will be the last time any platform gets exclusive content before CoD 2024.

All in all, that’s everything we know regarding Xbox-exclusive content and Call of Duty’s future post-Microsoft acquisition.
