Warzone players beg Raven to nerf “no skill” melee mechanic

In Warzone Season 5, a few Call of Duty players are once again calling for Raven Software to nerf the game’s “no skill” melee mechanic that they claim is ruining the game.

There are a variety of different methods you can employ to take out your opponents in Warzone. You can use truly powerful weapons and even take advantage of some useful Perks.

The melee mechanic lets you take down close-by foes in just a few hits, but players have repeatedly asked the developers to nerf it since they consider it to be too overpowered.

Reddit user PillowcaseDestroyer started a thread about this problem in Warzone subreddit. They claimed that the melee system in the game requires “no skill” and needs to be discouraged.

“No one shoots pistols in rebirth, no one. I land and find a team of 4 punching me. Nerf it, discourage it, it’s a shooter, not a boxing game,” wrote the user.

Many of the commenters agreed with the post. “It’s so annoying, you wipe 3 dirtbags for the 4th time in a row with one of their teammates hiding in a corner keeping them coming – then they keep dropping down like zombies and meleeing us all down,” said one comment.

It’s understandable why players are asking for this change, as there have previously been various different examples of the melee attack function being broken, including hitting people through walls.

Some also commented that the audio makes it difficult to hear nearby players, granting them an unfair advantage. “This is a major issue. But it’s compounded by the fact you can hardly hear anyone dropping on you until the very last second,” wrote one user.

It remains to be seen whether or not Activision will implement a major change to the melee mechanic. For more Warzone, check out our article on Warzone players calling for major change to how gas affects armor plates, and stay tuned to Charlie INTEL.
