Warzone fan theory explains why Caldera’s Peak POI volcano could erupt

Warzone players are always thinking about what’s next for the popular battle royale, and some players now believe that the Peak POI will erupt, spewing lava across Caldera.

Raven Software introduced the Pacific Caldera map back in December, giving players their first truly-new map for the base battle royale game.

While players were excited for a new location to replace Verdansk, many are frustrated with the island. Warzone fans believe Pacific Caldera is too barren, lacking in POIs with too much empty space players have to travel across during matches.

While the game’s developers have already hinted that map updates are coming in Season 2, some players believe we’ll see an even bigger change come in the future — a change that could destroy Caldera forever.

As discovered by one Warzone subreddit user, Caldera is not just the name of the map. It also refers to an area left behind after a volcano explodes.

The image posted by Kaaaaos reads: “A caldera is a large depression formed when a volcano erupts and collapses. Some calderas form a lake as the bowl-shaped depression fills with water.”

For many, this is too obvious a link to not be true, especially when you consider the giant mountain in the middle of the map. While it doesn’t appear to be active yet, we know that Peak is a dormant volcano, and its eruption could bring huge changes to the game.

Unsurprisingly, many fans agreed with this statement, pointing out that the link is “too convenient” to just be a coincidence. Meanwhile, others suggested that the top of Peak already looked like a bowl-shaped depression, indicating that the eruption happened before we arrived.

Of course, some used it as an opportunity to have some fun at the expense of the game, with one player suggesting that a “large depression” is a very accurate description of the game in its current state.

Unfortunately, we have no real idea as to whether Peak will eventually blow its lid or not. We’ll just have to wait and see or keep an eye out for confirmation from Raven. In the meantime, check out everything we know about Warzone Season 2, which is just days away from launch.
