Raven Senior Creative Director Ted Timmins has revealed that the Warzone developers will be introducing weapon balancing changes designed to “shift the meta” regarding Sniper Rifles in Season 3.

Warzone’s Sniper Rifles are an incredibly powerful tool, capable of dealing high damage to players from distance.

In Season 2, some Warzone players have felt that these rifles are too strong, especially on Caldera. Their high damage output makes them truly lethal, and if you get hit by one of them, there’s a good chance you’re headed for the Gulag or the lobby.

That could be about to change though, with Raven Software’s Senior Creative Director Ted Timmins revealing that the weapon balancing team could be about to make some major changes.

During an interview with the Baka Bros, Timmons was asked by Hector ‘Repullze‘ Torres about these long-range monsters, and whether the devs had any plans to counter their power in upcoming patches.

“I would love to have this conversation when we get closer to Season 3. My DMs are lighting up because the weapons team are listening in,” the developer replied. “We do plan a weapon shift for the Snipers. I’m happy to say that.”

“I think we would all agree it’s long overdue. The Sniper meta hasn’t changed in what feels like forever. I feel really good about where we’re going with that.”

Timmons and the Warzone devs have been taking part in a number of interviews with content creators, giving insight into their decision-making and future plans. On March 30, Timmins responded to questions about raising the Caldera player count to 200.

Timmins didn’t go as far as to say what form these nerfs will take, but it’s clear that the devs are planning to shake things up with the next seasonal update.

We don’t have a date for these balancing changes yet either, but according to the Season 2 Battle Pass, we can expect them around April 26, 2022, when Warzone Season 3 is scheduled to begin.
