One-shot Sniper Rifles finally arrive in Warzone 2 with the Season 3 update, but the community is divided on how the devs have implemented the feature.

Warzone 2 Season 3 brings a whole host of changes to the battle royale sequel. From long-awaited movement updates to a brand-new Gulag to learn, there’s plenty for players to get stuck into.

The Sniper Rifle category is also getting an overhaul that fans have been dying to see, with the arrival of the iconic Intervention from the original Modern Warfare 2, as well as the return of one-shot Snipers.

While players have been desperate for Sniper Rifles to knock fully-played enemies, much of the community isn’t happy about how the devs have brought the feature back.

As confirmed in the Warzone 2 Season 3 blog, “Bolt-action snipers equipped with Explosive Ammunition will be able to down enemies with one skill shot.” The MCPR-300 has also received Explosive Ammunition to make use of the change.

However, fans are unhappy as this means that only the MCPR, Intervention, and Victus XMR have one-shot capabilities in Season 3, leaving other popular rifles underpowered. Frustrated players responded to a Reddit thread from ‘Snowbunny236’ to express their anger.

“SP-X and LA-B don’t have explosive ammo so no one-shot for them I guess. They’re pretty much dead,” said KcMitchell. “This is a huge letdown tbh. I really like the SPX,” agreed ‘xthecerto4.’

Others took issue with the fact that one-shot Sniper Rifles could only be achieved with Explosive Ammuntion, which comes with significant drawbacks that will make landing headshots a challenge.

“Explosive ammo’s bullet velocity is slow as f**k, good luck hitting a moving target in the head with that,” said ‘BloodyMakarov69.’

While there were plenty of Warzone 2 players who were hoping for more from one-shot Sniper Rifles in Season 3, there were also those who feel like these changes make for a more balanced game.

“Good. It shouldn’t be handled any other way. It’s a big ass map with big ass open areas. We don’t need high-velocity one-shots from people you can’t even see,” replied ‘Fethah.’

Warzone 2 Season 3 has only just begun, so we’ll have to wait and see if the new one-shot Sniper Rifles bring balance to the game, or if the devs will rework them further in a future update.
