The Call of Duty developers have confirmed that an “upgraded and improvedversion of the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will be available in both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 at launch.

While there is a ton of excitement for both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, players are concerned about how the developers are planning to handle the prominent issue of cheaters ruining matches.

RICOCHET anti-cheat has been combating this problem since it was first added in October 2021, and it’s been confirmed that the system will be better than ever in both of the upcoming games.

Back on June 16, the developers stated that RICOCHET will be active in MW2 and Warzone 2 at launch. At the CoD Next event, they explained that it will have “new features and mitigations to protect the game.”

In an official blog post, the devs assured players that a year of updates from Team RICOCHET has helped create an “upgraded and improved” anti-cheat system to battle cheaters in both titles.

RICOCHET makes use of a kernel-level driver which can detect any software and applications being used by players to hack and cheat. Activision can then ban any accounts that were found cheating.

In a previous progress report, the devs promised players that the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will continue to “get smarter and better as time progresses.” This means we’ll see even more improvements arrive later.

Hopefully, the changes made to RICOCHET will reduce the issue of cheaters and hackers in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. We’ll just have to wait and see how effective it is when both games arrive.
