Warzone 2 is full of top-tier Assault Rifles to choose from, and CoD guru WhosImmortal has revealed one option that’s slipped under the radar despite being an absolute monster at close to mid-range.

The Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded update shook up the meta once again, throwing the new Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle into the mix, as well as introducing a host of buffs and nerfs to the game’s existing weapons.

One category that managed to escape too many adjustments was the Assault Rifle class, leaving the likes of the ISO Hemlock and the TAQ-56 as the go-to options.

However, Warzone 2 expert WhosImmortal revealed which outsider Assault Rifle players should run in Season 2 Reloaded.

In his March 22 video, the YouTuber explained that the Chimera has been overlooked in favor of weapons that are better over long distances, but the Season 1 AR is a “beast for close to mid-range.”

He went on to say that the Chimera is an ideal replacement for an SMG, and will suit players who are “running and gunning” in Warzone 2. While he admitted that its bullet velocity may be a turn-off for many, its close-range TTK is capable of “frying” enemies who dare to push you.

Barrel: 6.5” EXF VORPAL
Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40
Underbarrel: Schlager Tango
Rear Grip: Bruen Flash Grip
Magazine: 45 Round Mag

WhosImmortal started his Warzone 2 Chimera loadout with the 6.5” EXF VORPAL to buff the AR’s damage range and ADS speed, ensuring its quick off the mark at mid-range. Next, he went for the Sakin Tread-40 for improved recoil control.

He also added the Schlager Tango for better stability and hipfire accuracy, ideal for those situations when there’s no time to aim. In the rear grip slot, the streamer added the Bruen Flash Grip for a drastic buff to ADS and sprint-to-fire speed.

Finally, he equipped 45 Round Mags so that the Chimera can deal with multiple enemies before you have to worry about reloading.

The Chimera currently has a pick rate of just 1.7% in Warzone 2 according to WZ Ranked, while other Assault Rifles dominate the meta. However, if you’re looking for an AR with more mobility, WhosImmortal believes “you can’t go wrong” with this SMG hybrid.
