Warzone 2 devs Infinity Ward finally brought the DMZ’s elusive Building 21 on December 19, but players were left baffled after the “weird” decision to remove it after only 24 hours.

Warzone 2’s DMZ mode includes a ton of missions and objectives for players to complete across Al Mazrah, but the Season 1 Reloaded update also mentioned a mysterious Building 21 area would be going live.

This area is totally separate from Al Mazrah, and can only be accessed during a certain window if a player has a Building 21 access card in their possession. The new area went live on December 19, but it wasn’t around for long, leaving players to question the “weird” decision.

Alongside the announcement that the DMZ’s Building 21 was live, Infinity Ward confirmed that “Our window to strike is limited– if missed, Operators will need to wait for future deployments.” Essentially, it would only be around for a limited time before opening up again.

Players were shocked when they announced on December 20, only 24 hours later, that Building 21 had been disabled and would return “within the week.”

The replies to their tweet were full of confused players asking why, with YouTuber PrestigeIsKey calling the situation “really confusing.”

YouTuber MrDalekJD took to Twitter to ask for the community’s opinion on its temporary removal, explaining that he’s “all for limited time content in COD, but only getting a day to play on it and then waiting a week for it to come back is weird.”

“Easily the weirdest content launch ever,” he continued. “Wouldn’t be such an issue if they told us how long it’d be live for. 24hrs is rough.”

JGOD replied that it was “100% weird when they didn’t say it was only going to be 24 hours. They did at least mention it was a Limited time, but 24 Hours? RIP.”

Call of Duty content creator Espresso said they couldn’t even find an access card within that 24-hour window, so suggested they up the spawn rate so more players have the chance of accessing the area.

Some have speculated that Building 21’s time was cut short because of a glitch allowing players to reuse the access card, but we’ll know for sure when it returns on Saturday, December 24.
