Warzone 2 Season 3 is set to finally bring the Ranked mode that fans have been calling for, and Raven Software Creative Director, Ted Timmins, has teased that big things are coming.

Many only games feature competitive modes where the most die-hard players can test their mettle against the very best, including popular titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends. Modern Warfare 2 has also proven how beneficial a mode like this can be, as the CoD multiplayer’s Twitch viewership skyrocketed after the release of Ranked Play in Season 2.

Fans have been desperate to see a Warzone 2 Ranked Play mode ever since the game launched back in November 2022, to give them meaningful rewards to grind towards in every match.

They’re finally getting their wish in Warzone 2 Season 3, and Raven Software Creative Director, Ted Timmins, has claimed that Ranked mode will drastically alter the game for the better.

On April 5, the first real teaser trailer for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 was revealed, confirming that Warzone 2 Ranked Play will arrive during the season. Timmins also shared the trailer, teasing that “a new dawn for Warzone is coming folks.”

In a follow-up tweet, he excited fans even more by saying: “Ranked is going to change everything, and I’ve never seen such a packed season with updates from multiple studios.”

Although Warzone 2 Ranked mode is confirmed to launch during Season 3, little is known about the format and rewards it will offer. Many have speculated it could be similar to Iron Trials and Titanium Trials from Warzone 1.

These modes raised the maximum health of all players to slow down the TTK and increase the skill gap, making accurate shots and positioning vital in every single fight.

In terms of ranks, Warzone 2 could make use of the same structure as Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play, where players compete to earn Skill Rating and climb through multiple Skill Divisions. However, this is just speculation at this point.

Only time will tell how Warzone 2 Ranked Play will work when it arrives in Season 3, but based on these developer comments, fans will be hoping for something that fundamentally changes the battle royale sequel.
