Warzone 2.0 players beg for changes to “garbage” looting system
Looting has changed in Warzone 2, and the refreshed system has not gone down well with all players as some are decidedly unhappy with it.
Warzone 2 has changed some of the fundamentals that made the original BR shooter so beloved, and many fans have angrily voiced their opinions on the state of the game’s looting system.
It’s clear that Activision wanted Warzone 2 to be a full-blown sequel that was able to stand on its own two feet. Changes to the circle mechanics along with a new Gulag system are perfect examples of this new direction.
Another way in which Warzone 2 has tried to become a separate entity is in its new Looting mechanic. The OG Warzone would have random loot strewn about the map, loose and readily available to pick up.
Now, Warzone 2 has adopted more realistic mechanics as seen in other shooters such as PUBG and Escape From Tarkov – the inspiration behind the game’s DMZ mode. However, the new way of looting isn’t to everyone’s liking.
In a post on the Warzone subreddit, one player claimed to other members that “Looting is not okay” in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
The user explained: “Who even designed this clown fiesta? First off, the backpack system is a mess. Second, there’s no way to loot items on the ground if they’re close to each other, you have to aim your camera for the perfect angle to loot the item you want, sometimes there’s zero chance to get the item because it’s like glitched somehow.”
They continued: “Just bring back the old MW19 loot system, this one is extremely slow and wacky.”
The OP definitely wasn’t the only person to share this kind of view with one person calling it “a PUBG ripoff but way slower” and another commenting: “It’s garbage. They made a completely fine system much harder to read and understand.”
Given that the new system was essentially trialed at Call of Duty Next and the follow-up CoD test event for streamers and personalities, the devs have had plenty of time to determine if the new system fits. So it remains to be seen if they make any changes going forward.
For the time being, Warzone 2 players will probably need time to adjust to the new feature and hope that it eventually becomes second nature.
