The long-awaited Sniper Rifle buffs that were announced by Vanguard devs on March 10 have finally made their way into the game by way of the Season 2 Reloaded update.

Quickscoping has always been a Call of Duty staple, but it’s significantly more difficult in Vanguard thanks to the Sniper Rifles having slow aim down sight time and high flinch. Players have been begging for change, and that change was supposed to arrive in Vanguard’s March 10 update.

However, the devs announced that “not all of the Sniper Rifle balance changes outlined in today’s communications made it live,” and confirmed they’ll arrive later in Season 2. On March 22, the time for Sniper Rifle supremacy arrived as the Season 2 Reloaded update provided significant buffs.

These buffs should make Vanguard Snipers much easier to use thanks to faster ADS and reduced weapon sway, so you’ll want to test them out in multiplayer matches.

The devs explained that they “recognized that Sniper Rifles were underperforming across the board,” and wanted to “focus on the strengths and weaknesses of each weapon in this class.”

To do this, they announced that the Type 99 and Kar98k would have their ADS times decreased by up to 20%, and flinch was reduced by 30%. The update also changed the 3-Line, reducing its max damage range but making it much more effective up close.

Although it seemed like Sledgehammer messed up their Sniper buff for a second time, players can rest easy. They announced that the Sniper Rifle adjustments are live in-game despite a UI issue preventing the stats from properly displaying in the Gunsmith.

The Sniper buff is a great response that should balance Vanguard weapons and level the playing field for those who prefer long-range weapons. Don’t be afraid to take a custom Sniper loadout into the new Arms Race mode.
