Two classic World at War maps will be making a return in Call of Duty: Vanguard in the same way other fan-favorite maps have made returns in Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is taking the series back to World War II. CoD has visited this time period several times over the franchise’s lifespan. However, Vanguard is adding more to make combat new and refreshing.

During today’s multiplayer reveal, Sledgehammer Games showed what players can look forward to. Destructible environments and new game modes will spice up the traditional multiplayer feel.

As well, maps will drastically change appearance over the course of a match. This is because walls, windows, and cover can all be destroyed. Sledgehammer Games is also adding these new twists to some classic maps from the fan-favorite game World at War.

Classic World at War maps coming to Vanguard

In a blog post on the official Call of Duty website, more information was given about Vanguard’s multiplayer experience. Including information about two classic World at War maps making a return in Vanguard.

The maps returning are Castle and Dome. Seeing how World at War was also set in WWII, it makes sense they would be included. However, there will be significant changes made to these maps to fit Vanguard’s playstyle better.

The blog states, “There will be maps coming to the full game that are love letters to those who enjoyed Call of Duty®: World at War.” Castle and Dome will be reworked to include destructible environments and new graphical details.

Both Castle and Dome are two of 20 Multiplayer maps that will be available when Vanguard launches on November 5. Sixteen maps are reserved for traditional multiplayer, while four are for the new Champion Hill game mode.

It will be interesting to see if Sledgehammer Games will add any more classic maps from the WWII era. If it does, which maps would you like to see make a return?
