Combining Halo with Portal, Splitgate skyrocketed in popularity in 2021 and has secured a dedicated fanbase. Here’s everything you need to know about crossplay in Splitgate, including its cross-progression status.
Free-to-play shooters have been dominating the market over the past few years, with Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Warzone becoming some of the most popular shooters in the world. Splitgate hit consoles in July 2021 and offered something entirely unique.
This free-to-play “Halo meets Portal” FPS took the gaming world by storm, offering players the familiarity of Halo’s gunplay and the advanced mechanics from Portal. With both casual and competitive playlists, Splitgate has secured itself a dedicated fanbase.
All of the most popular games feature crossplay in some capacity, so we’re looking at Splitgate’s cross-platform and cross-progression status.

Is Splitgate crossplay?
Yes, Splitgate is a cross-platform game, offering crossplay between PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.
This means that no matter which platform or console generation you’re on, you can party up with your friends in the sci-fi arena shooter. All you need to do is enter your friends’ Splitgate ID, and you’ll be able to party up in-game.
Can you turn off crossplay in Splitgate?
If you’d rather stick to playing against your own platform, you can disable crossplay in Splitgate. You’ll only match against players on your own platform, but you might see longer queue times and higher ping as the game has a smaller player pool to matchmake from.
Here’s how to turn off crossplay in Splitgate:
- Launch the Splitgate menu (box in the right-hand corner) and head to Settings
- Scroll over to the Privacy tab
- Uncheck the Crossplay box
- Head back to the Play tab and matchmake
- If you want to re-enable Crossplay, simply head back to the Privacy tab in Settings
Does Splitgate have cross-progression?
Unfortunately, Splitgate doesn’t offer cross-progression support yet. This means that if you’re a PlayStation player, you won’t be able to load up the game on PC and keep your progress, unlocks, and purchases.
We want to have cross-progression in the future, but right now it is not on our timeline 🙂— Splitgate (@Splitgate) September 9, 2021
However, the devs have confirmed that they want to add it, but stated in September 2021 that “right now it is not on our timeline.”
