GTA Online players have been subject to damaging game data corruption, thanks to hacker exploits, and Rockstar have now sought to reassure gamers.

Whereas some players have been lapping up the recent GTA Online content such as the addition of Taxi Work and the Roaming Gun Van, others have had their gameplay tainted by mischievous hackers.

For a few weeks now at least, GTA Online players just wanting to explore Los Santos and enjoy their recreational time are having their accounts subject to an exploit that is capable of corrupting game data and essentially deleting online characters and hours of work.

Thankfully, Rockstar Games have decided that enough is enough and have come forward to take some action. The devs have addressed the problems in a tweet in an effort to comfort players and scare hackers.

The tweet in question came from the official Rockstar Games Twitter account on January 23, 2022, and talked about how the company is not only aware of the issue but is looking to fix it very soon.

“We are aware of potential new exploits in GTA Online for PC, which we aim to resolve in an upcoming planned security-related Title Update. If you think you might have experienced any related issues, please reach out to Rockstar Support,” the tweet said in full.

So it seems like the upcoming GTA Online will be one purely focused on rectifying the current situation with Rockstar describing it as a “security-related Title Update.”

Don’t expect it to pump the game with new features and content in the same way that the Weekly Update has the tendency to do.

It’s unclear what it could mean for hackers attempting to employ this exploit moving forward, and GTA Online players affected by the exploit will have to wait and see if anything can be done for them and their lost data.
