The next Resident Evil remake is almost here, with Resident Evil 4 bringing Leon Kennedy’s horrifying visit to rural Spain to a modern audience. If you’ve played the free Chainsaw Demo to death and are chomping at the bit to play the full game, you’ll be able to preload the Resident Evil 4 Remake to play straight away.

Here’s everything we know about preloading Resident Evil 4 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC including the dates and file size.

How to preload Resident Evil 4 on Xbox

Xbox players can already preload the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Xbox players are in luck, as the Resident Evil 4 Remake can be preloaded right now ahead of its March 24 release date. You can pre-install the game using the Xbox app even if you haven’t bought it yet, ensuring it’s ready to play as soon as it launches.

Here’s how to preload the Resident Evil 4 Remake on Xbox:

  1. Download the Xbox App to your phone and launch it.
  2. Press the search button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Search for Resident Evil 4 and click on the remake under ‘Games.’
  4. Hit the ‘Download to Console’ button and Resident Evil 4 will be preloaded to your Xbox.

How to preload Resident Evil 4 on PlayStation

The Resident Evil 4 Remake will be available to preload on PlayStation on March 23, the day before launch.

Once the preload goes live, you should have the option to download the game after pre-ordering it.

Can you preload Resident Evil 4 on PC?

Currently, there’s no confirmation that you can preload the Resident Evil 4 Remake on Steam. If it does become available to preload, we’d expect it to go live at roughly the same time as PlayStation.

Resident Evil 4 Remake preload file size

On Xbox, the Resident Evil 4 Remake takes up around 67 GB and we expect the game to be a similar size on both PlayStation and PC.

There will also be a day one patch for Resident Evil 4, but the update’s file size remains to be seen.
