stardust and rare candy in pokemon go battle weekend

With the Pokemon Go Battle Weekend event of Shared Skies arriving soon, trainers have a brilliant opportunity to stack up on tons of Stardust and Rare Candy and end the Season in style.

Set over four and a half days, PvP players can use the popular ‘tanking’ method to earn all these resources without effort. Tanking involves losing all 20 Go Battle League (GBL) sets for the first three days to drop your Ranking, even by forfeiting.

On the fourth day of the event, thanks to the GBL algorithm, fans will get easier opponents after losing so many battles. Winning and losing alternate sets help farm these useful items.

Repeating this until the end of the Season on September 4, 2024, and dropping a Star Piece for bonus gains lets you farm up to 18 Rare Candies per day and thousands of Stardust. That’s not all, as the victories in between increase the GBL Rank, offering the rare Elite Fast TM and Elite Charged TM.

This method is so reliable that Reddit user ‘Entire_Pineapple4732’ vouched for how relaxed it is in a post, especially when GBL is often touted to be stressful by the PvP community.

Pokemon Go’s GBL leaves little room for strategy, unlike mainline games like Scarlet and Violet, thanks to the lack of Abilities and Held Items. So, PvP fans rely on swapping their combatants out in time and are often left fighting a losing battle if they come across an unfavorable matchup.

While trainers have long begged for a revamp to GBL, such an update is yet to see the light of day. And that’s why, tanking has become such a hit even among veteran players, especially during Go Battle Weekend events.

Users in the comments section called it a “sound plan” and laid out their strategy, as one put it: “Lose lots. Preferably with level 1 shinies. Get to the basement of ELO (300-400). Everyone down there is a tanker. We don’t try hard, so you won’t have to.”

Another added: “Enter the match. Put up a low cp team that will be quickly defeated.” The Shared Skies Go Battle Weekend runs from Friday, August 16, at 12 AM until Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11:59 PM (local time).

As the next Season inches closer, fans would hope that devs Niantic bring a much-needed refresh to GBL and make it more compelling.

Aside from Pokemon Go Battle League matches, you can also take on some exciting Raids featuring Xerneas and Mega Salamence.
