Lugia in Pokemon Go Raids

Lugia is back in Pokemon Go along with some tough 5-Star Raids, so here’s everything you need to know, including weaknesses, resistances, shiny availability, and the best counters to beat it.

Pokemon Go keeps players entertained with its Raid boss rotation and this week is Lugia’s turn to shine. The legendary Pokemon is headlining 5-Star Raids in the mobile game once again and trainers don’t want to miss out on the action.

We’ll cover everything there’s to know about Lugia’s 5-Star Raids, including tips, counters, and shiny availability.

How to get Lugia in Pokemon Go

The only way to get Lugia in Pokemon Go is by defeating it in its 5-Star Raid and catching it afterward. This is a great chance for players that never caught a Lugia when it was available via Research Breakthrough.

Some Legendary Pokemon return to the game after a while with easier challenges or special events, but this is the only way to get Lugia at the moment. Rumors regarding Shadow Raids have players excited about the possibility of catching Shadow Lugia in the future.

The Lugia 5-Star Raids are taking place from March 28 to April 10, so Pokemon Go players have plenty of time to try their luck.

Lugia will headline 5-Star Pokemon Go Raids from March 28 to April 10, 2023.

Can Lugia be shiny in Pokemon Go?

Shiny Lugia is available in Pokemon Go. The shiny rate for this Legendary Pokemon is approximately one in twenty, so players might have to participate in many Raids to get one.

All Lugia weaknesses & best counters in Pokemon Go

Lugia is a dual Flying and Psychic-type Pokemon, which means it’s weak against Dark, Electric, Ghost, Rock, and Ice-type moves. On the other hand, it can easily resist Fighting, Psychic, Grass, and Ground-type damage.

It’s recommended to face this 5-Star Raid with at least four high leveled trainers, but it can also be attainable with a group of 7 to 10 lower-level Pokemon Go players with the right counters.

Keep in mind that Lugia’s moveset can include Psychic, Water, Flying, and Dragon-type attacks, so don’t bring any Pokemon that’s weak against those categories, like Rock types.

Considering every factor, some of the best counters for this Raid include Gengar, Banette, Manectric, Houndoom, Weavile, Absol, Ampharos, Glalie, Xurkitree, Abomasnow, Zekrom, Thundurus, Chandelure, Hoopa, and Galarian Darmanitan.

You’re more than ready to face Lugia and add it to your team. For more Pokemon content, check out our other guides:
