Typhlosion Tera Raid Battle

A new Tera Raid Battle event has gone live in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, giving players a chance to catch Unrivaled Typhlosion. Here are the event dates and tips on how to beat Typhlosion’s Tera Raid Battle.

As many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players predicted, the latest Tera Raid Battle event is centered around another fan-favorite starter: Typhlosion. For those who finished the three main paths in the game and are waiting for DLC content, 7-Star Tera Raid Battles offer an interesting challenge.

After Decidueye and Samurott, it’s Typhlosion’s time to shine. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Tera Raid Battle event, including dates and the best counters for this Pokemon.

Typhlosion Tera Raid Battle dates in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The second set of Typhlosion Tera Raid Battle dates in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is taking place from April 21 at 12 AM BST / 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET to April 23 at 11:59 PM BST / 3:59 PM PT / 6:59 PM ET. Players already had a chance at this Raid between April 14 and April 16.

The 7-Star Tera Raid Battle features Typhlosion with the Mightiest Mark, meaning players can only catch one per save file.

This marks the debut of Typhlosion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the same way it did with Decidueye in March and Samurott in April. That means that it might be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods later on. Trainers looking for an interesting challenge must search for Black Tera Crystals across Paldea.

Typhlosion Tera Type and moveset in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Typhlosion has the Ghost Tera Type in the 7-Star Tera Raid taking place in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. That means it’s weak against Dark and Ghost-type moves. Additionally, it resists Poison and Bug-type attacks and is immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves.

Regarding its moveset, Unrivaled Typhlosion knows Eruption (Fire), Earthquake (Ground), Shadow Ball (Ghost), and Play Rough (Fairy). Players should also be ready to debuff Sunny Day with moves like Rain Dance.

As with previous Tera Raid Battles, Typhlosion has a powerful Ability to watch out for. The Flash Fire Hidden Ability increases the damage of Fire-type moves while making Typhlosion completely immune to Fire-type attacks. Luckily, this Ability only activates when Typhlosion is hit with a Fire-type attack.

Best counters for Typhlosion 7-Star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Considering Typhlosion’s Tera Type and moveset, Dark-type Pokemon could have been the safest bet for this 7-Star Raid, but Play Rough can annihilate them. Pure Ghost-type Pokemon can also deal a lot of damage but are equally vulnerable to the powerful Shadow Ball. So, here are the best counters for this Tera Raid Battle.

Best Annihilape strategy for Typhlosion 7-Star Tera Raid

Annihilape is a great option for this battle thanks to its dual Ghost and Fighting-type combination. You can use Screech in the first couple of turns to lower Typhlosion’s Defense and then spam its signature move, Rage Fist.

Keep in mind that each time Annihilape is hit, the power of Rage Fist will increase. This won’t reset if you faint, so you should be done fairly quickly.

Best Flutter Mane strategy for Typhlosion 7-Star Tera Raid

Pokemon Scarlet players can also rely on Flutter Mane, the Paradox version of Misdreavus.

Fake Tears should be your go-to move for the first turns, and Calm Mind can boost Flutter Mane Stats right after. Terastallizing to use Shadow Ball with STAB is a great strategy to solo Typhlosion’s Tera Raid.

Best Chi-Yu strategy for Typhlosion 7-Star Tera Raid

Legendary Pokemon Chi-Yu can deal super-effective damage while resisting Ghost and Fire-type attacks. You can give it a Shuca Berry to resist Earthquake and leave the rest to the Beads of Ruin Ability that will weaken Typhlosion’s Special moves.

While Snarl will lower Typhlosion’s Special Attack, Nasty Plot can increase Chi-Yu’s. Finally, you can Terastallize Chi-Yu to deal massive damage with Dark Pulse.

Any of the three Pokemon listed above can One-Hit K.O. Unrivaled Typhlosion if they’re leveled up. Other powerful counters include Krookodile, Honchkrow, and Dachsbun.

Now you’re ready to face Typhlosion in its challenging Tera Raid Battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
