The new Pokemon Go season titled Timeless Travels is here, and a new themed event will test players and their catching skills. So, here’s everything you need to know about the new Catch Mastery event, including shiny chances, bonuses, and more.

With the arrival of the Timeless Travels season of Pokemon Go, players are already looking forward to special events, new Raids, and much more. Just a few days after the season started, trainers all over the world can take part in the new Catch Mastery event featuring beloved Ice-type Pokemon.

So, here’s everything there is to know about the new Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event in December 2023, including date and time, rewards, shiny encounters, and bonuses.

Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event date & time

The next Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event will take place on Saturday, December 9, from 10 AM to 8 PM (local time).

This means you’ll have eight hours to take advantage of this event’s bonuses and boosted wild encounters.

Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event encounters

These are the Pokemon that will appear more frequently in the wild during the Catch Mastery event in Pokemon Go:

• Snorunt
• Bergmite

Both Pokemon have shiny versions in Pokemon Go, so be on the lookout for shiny Snorunt and Bergmite.

Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event Field & Timed Research rewards

The Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event will let players complete different Research tasks to get interesting rewards.

By spinning PokeStops and Gym Photo Discs, players will get themed Field Research tasks that will test their Poke Ball throwing accuracy. Completing these tasks will trigger encounters with Cryogonal. Lucky players might encounter a shiny one.

At the same time, a new Timed Research focused on Ice-type Pokemon will be available. “Complete 10 sets of research tasks to encounter 40 Cryogonal in total!” reads the official Pokemon Go website. The Timed Research will give players increased chances of encountering shiny Cryogonal.

Trainers looking for more can pay US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) for additional Timed Research with the same tasks and rewards. This means players could catch a grand total of 80 Cryogonal by completing both Timed Research.

Pokemon Go Catch Mastery event bonuses

Pokemon Go will feature these special bonuses during the Catch Mastery event:

• An increased chance of encountering shiny Snorunt, shiny Bergmite, and shiny Cryogonal.
• 2x XP for successfully catching Pokemon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
