Call of Duty games have always been released annually, but 2023 marks a big change for the franchise. Players have been reacting to Treyarch’s CoD being delayed by a year, with the response seemingly pretty positive.

Since the news dropped about Wazone 2 and the development of Modern Warfare II by Infinity Ward, players have not just been wondering what will happen to Warzone, but also Treyarch’s next title.

While it was supposed to be released in 2023, Activision recently announced that it would be delayed for a year, meaning Modern Warfare 2 will run over both 2022 and 2023.

While you may think players wouldn’t be too happy about the delay of a Call of Duty game, a recent poll would suggest the opposite.

With both Vanguard and Warzone getting a lot of complaints from players, it seems the Call of Duty devs are going to be focussing on spending more time on the game before rushing its release.

This does mean that players will have to wait longer for releases, but as Activision have confirmed that a new free to play title will also be coming out, this may fill the gap that the delay will create.

In a recent poll held by our CharlieINTEL Twitter page, it seems players are feeling fairly positive about the delay of CoD 2023.

As you can see from the poll, only 8.2% of those who participated are skeptical about the delay of Treyarch’s 2023 Call of Duty game.

A whopping 91.8% voted for “good thing,” which shows that the players are most likely happy to see the devs work on something for longer than usual, as the result may be a more polished game with fewer issues and more content on release.

It’s obviously a bit of a shame for those who enjoy Treyarch’s style of CoD, but Modern Warfare (2019) was such a success it won’t be surprising if the sequel is another hit.
