Popular streamer Nicholas ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has shared his opinion on the brand-new Apex Legends Season 15 character Catalyst, calling her abilities “horrible.”

Apex Legends Season 15 has officially arrived, and while players acclimatize to the new map Broken Moon, there’s also a brand-new Legend to master, Catalyst.

Catalyst offers some very unique abilities, and as a Defensive Legend, players will need to be precise and coordinate her abilities, especially the Dark Veil Ultimate which offers some anti-scan properties.

Prior to the Season 15 update, it was unclear how Catalyst would fit in the meta, with NICKMERCS originally stating that she could be a “problem.” However, now that players have got their hands on the new Legend, many are sharing their opinions, with NICKMERCS not being impressed so far.

While playing the Apex Legends Season 15 update on stream, NICKMERCS responded to a question asking him if he has “tried Catalyst yet.” The streamer responded bluntly, saying “yeah, she’s horrible.”

NICKMERCS expands on his opinion, claiming that “the Ult, it screws over your teammates,” and that the Tactical “is harder to hit than people think.” Further, the Twitch streamer also feels that Catalyst’s passive of reinforcing doors is “probably horrible for ranked.”

However, after a user in the stream asked Nick if Catalyst will “have a role in comp,” the streamer does give Catalyst some hope, saying she “could definitely have a role in comp,” but it may be hard for her to cement a place over other dominant Legends “right now.”

Catalyst could potentially spring into the Apex Legends ranked meta sometime in the future, as characters like Seer and Mad Maggie weren’t considered meta when they first released, but are now among the best characters to choose for ranked.

We’ll have to wait and see how Catalyst is going to impact the meta once things are settled, as her pick rate is likely going to skyrocket during Season 15’s launch week, as players work out what the character is all about.
