NICKMERCS reveals the perk to replace Ghost

Ghost has been the meta Perk since Warzone’s first week, but top streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has switched to another Perk, believing that it could soon take the top spot in Season 4.

Warzone players have long complained about the Perk meta, where the same few Perks have been used for over a year now. E.O.D, Ghost, and Amped appear in almost every player’s loadout, and you don’t see many variations beyond that – especially in the Perk 2 slot.

However, NICKMERCS, one of the most popular Warzone streamers, believes that another Perk is set to steal Ghost’s thunder as the meta choice.

Call of Duty Warzone Ghost perk

“A lot of people get Ghost out of their second loadout,” NICKMERCS explained. “You don’t show up on a radar, you don’t show up on a heartbeat, you don’t show up man! It’s a good Perk, it’s a popular Perk.”

But Nick described how stream snipers can just pull up his stream and know his position whether he has Ghost or not. This has led him to start running High Alert as his second Perk instead of Ghost, and he believes that it’s now the better option for skilled players.

“The real reason that we’re using High Alert now is because when people aim at you, you see the direction in which you’re being aimed at,” explained Nick. He then went on to described how High Alert has been buffed to counter Dead Silence, allowing users to hear the footsteps as normal.

Unfortunately, the buff to High Alert hasn’t been released yet. Warzone devs have long been teasing a Perk rebalance to counter Dead Silence, and then they confirmed this change in the Season 4 Reloaded patch notes. However, there’s no ETA on the buff’s arrival.

Even without the buff, NICKMERCS believes that High Alert is a “phenomenal Perk,” and he won’t be getting Ghost from his second loadout anymore, taking High Alert instead.

“Now as a streamer, I’m in a little bit of a different spot,” he said. “But I still think for a lot of you guys that Ghost isn’t that important if you’re able to move at a faster speed. Now if you’re a bot, I love you, but keep getting Ghost. If you’re not a bot, High Alert could work for you.”
