Call of Duty: Warzone 2
NICKMERCS claims “overcomplicated” Warzone 2 needs to go back to basics
Popular streamer NICKMERCS has called for Warzone’s “overcomplicated” weapon tuning system to go back to basics.
Streaming star Nicholas “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff has welcomed the changes coming in Warzone 2 Season 2, but still feel the battle royale is too complicated when it comes to creating a loadout.
Warzone 2 Season 2 is right around the corner, and the developers have already announced a number of major changes based on community feedback. The update will bring back the 1v1 Gulag from the original, as well as introduce major fixes to the game’s audio.
it’s also making some substantial adjustments to loadouts in Warzone 2, by bringing back customizable Perks and reducing the cost of Loadout Drop Markers at Buy Stations.
However, despite a number of positive changes, popular streamer NICKMERCS still feels that overly-complex systems are holding Warzone 2 back.
In a January 26 upload to his YouTube channel, Nick explained that he would love to see Call of Duty abandon the current in-depth Gunsmith and return to a more streamlined approach.
“My opinion on this whole game, they are going in a direction where it’s overcomplicated and it doesn’t need to be,” the streamer said. “I really do miss the days when you could just add four attachments or three attachments.
“In fact, I miss the days when it was just a couple of attachments, you didn’t even need an attachment. [It was just] that’s an M16, that’s an M4, or that’s a Scar.”
He also mentioned that he understands why a feature like weapon tuning might be appealing but pointed out that most other successful games in a similar genre to Warzone 2 tend to be simple but effective.
“All of the best shooters in the history of gaming, for the most part, didn’t have any customization like that.” Nick continued. “Not everything has to be Tarkov. Look at Halo or Gears of War.”
Ultimately, NICKMERCS claimed that doing away with weapon tuning and going back to a more traditional Gunsmith would make Warzine 2 more accessible.
He said: “There’s like eight different attachments, every attachment is either tuned up or tuned down, tuned left or tuned right, I think it’s too much. I think you just go away with that, go backward, go back to the basics. Don’t overcomplicate it, make it easy for people to pick up and play. It doesn’t need to be this crazy system.”
The upcoming Warzone 2 Season 2 update has already proven that the developers aren’t afraid to roll back changes if the community isn’t happy with them. However, we’ll have to wait and see if the weapon tuning system gets adjusted in a future patch.
