New Cold War Zombies round-based map release date window revealed
A new Cold Wars Zombies round-based map finally has a release window, and it will also be the finale for the Cold Wars Zombies saga.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded patch notes have dropped. The mid-season patch outlines a bunch of new content on the way. This includes a new map and mode for the multiplayer side of Cold War and a bunch of new Zombies content.
In the Zombies department, players can experience a new Onslaught map and a new Outbreak region. Both Outbreak and Onslaught have new modes, and new events as well in Season 5 Reloaded.
However, the biggest piece of Zombies news gives players something to look forward to. Treyarch has finally given players a release date window for the new round-based map that will tell the Cold Wars Zombies finale.
New Cold War Zombies round-based map release date window
Treyarch revealed the release window in a Call of Duty Blog post. It stated, “As development continues on the finale of the Black Ops Cold War Zombies saga in next season’s round-based map, we’ve packed Season Five Reloaded with new ways to play…”
This means that players can expect the next and final round-based Cold War Zombies map to debut during Season 6. Season 5 is slated to end on October 6, so Season 6 should start on October 7.
The focus of CoD Zombies will be transitioning to Call of Duty: Vanguard when it releases on November 5.
It would make sense for Treyarch to want to wrap up Cold War Zombies before then and transition straight into the Vanguard Zombies storyline, especially when Treyarch is handling the development of the Vanguard Zombies game mode. Players can expect the new round-based Cold War Zombies map to release sometime after October 6, 2021.
What is a round-based map in Cold War Zombies
Round-based maps are what most players refer to as the classic CoD Zombies experience. Players try to survive as many rounds as possible while exploring a specific map. Each map also tends to have its own storyline.
There are currently three round-based zombies maps in Cold War. They are Die Maschine, Firebase Z, and Mauer der Toten. They are all connected by a storyline focused around a character named Grigori Weaver.
The fourth and final map that will be added later this year will conclude the Cold Wars Zombies saga. However, we don’t know what the final map holds for its players.
