Modern Warfare’s Season 6 has been extended

Infinity Ward has confirmed that Modern Warfare’s sixth season has been extended ahead of the release of Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1.

In a brief update today, Infinity Ward announced that they would be extending Season 6 of Modern Warfare until December 7 at 11PM PST. This means it will end two days before the expected release of Black Ops Cold War’s first season on December 9 at 11PM PST.

This was first noticed by YouTuber WhosImmortal, who spotted the change when he booted up Warzone on November 24. Immortal then tweeted a screenshot of the Modern Warfare Battle Pass, which had been updated with the extension.

In terms of what will happen to Modern Warfare at the conclusion of Season 6, things remain up in the air with no official confirmation from Infinity Ward as to whether there will be a seventh season.

When asked about the possibility of Modern Warfare Season 7 happening, Lead Multiplayer VFX artist Reed Shingledecker stated that there would be “more content coming,” although he wasn’t sure what the name of the content drop would be.

It is possible that Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1 could drop content for both it and Warzone, while Modern Warfare’s next update could just focus on its own multiplayer mode, but that is still unconfirmed.

What we do know is that Black Ops Cold War’s Battle Pass system will be integrated across Warzone and the game and that Modern Warfare will adopt a new progression system between the modern Call of Duty titles.

It’s unlikely Activision and the development teams would release a separate Battle Pass for Modern Warfare, especially considering that Black Ops Cold War’s Battle Pass will be active at the same time.

For now, the wait remains until season 1 releases on December 9th. This update will bring the long-awaited progression system sync between Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War.

Additionally, we will see the first drop of weapons in the battle pass that will be available in both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, which will be a huge change in how players experience the core Call of Duty titles.

New Zombies modes, more multiplayer maps and the return of 2v2 gunfight (with maps) are also expected in the content drop.

A new “Classified” Warzone experience will also become available when the season releases, so content will be plentiful across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.
