Call of Duty players fear that Warzone 2 will overshadow the classic Call of Duty multiplayer, leaving Modern Warfare 2 in the battle royale’s shadow much like they feel the original Warzone did to MW2019.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 is set to bring a heap of new content to the already best-selling game, including Warzone 2 and the new extraction-style DMZ mode.

Despite all the new content, multiplayer fans have let Infinity Ward know how they feel about the reimagined maps returning for the first season, unimpressed that the maps have already been seen before.

Now, multiplayer fans are worried that the arrival of Warzone 2 will cause even more issues, with some such as Reddit user StillGalaxy99 worried that the devs will make the same “mistake MW2019 made.”

Many feel as though the devs will “hide the main game (Modern Warfare 2) behind Warzone,” which is what fans feel happened to the first installment of the new Modern Warfare series. Ultimately, Warzone became the feature, with multiplayer in the background.

The community is begging the devs to not make this mistake again, with the OP pleading to the devs to “please” not make the same mistake and comments under the post saying “Aah sh*t here we go again. the first integration will kill modern warfare again.”

Other comments express this opinion further, with one even referencing an ad for the game that shows how Warzone 2 is the main focus: “It literally says in one of their ads ‘buy mw2 to level up guns for warzone 2’.”

It seems Multiplayer fans are not happy about this in the slightest, especially as Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 will share the same application similar to MW2019: “I don’t like having to update all the time for a part of a game that I don’t care about, especially since I play on console and space for games is limited.”

Unfortunately, for players who prefer multiplayer over the battle royale mode, Warzone 2 is set to take the community by storm and will likely overshadow the main game due to BR’s extreme popularity.

We’ll have to wait and see how far this will go, hopefully, future updates and Season 1 Reloaded, will support multiplayer as much as Warzone 2.
