Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 will deliver the classic Hardcore mode that players have been calling for.

It seems Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 will deliver a few features that players have been crying out for since launch. While the Season 2 update was expected to arrive on February 1, the devs pushed the launch date back to February 15 to work on the state of the game.

According to the Call of Duty team, the devs are looking to make major changes informed by community feedback. When it comes to Modern Warfare 2 modes, Ranked Play and a tried and true Hardcore mode have been at the top of the wishlist.

Luckily, it seems both will make their way to Modern Warfare 2 with the Season 2 update.

Hardcore mode coming to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 2

On January 22, Infinity Ward confirmed that “Hardcore is back!” The barebones mode with limited HUD and less health is set to debut in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2.

The Hardcore mode is a staple of Call of Duty games and it has appeared in every title dating back to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The mode is well-liked for its aptness to grind camos.

Players were disappointed with the absence of Hardcore following the launch of Modern Warfare 2. Instead of Hardcore, players received the Tier 1 playlist, which was viewed as a rebranding of the Hardcore mode.

Tier 1 has many of the same features as Hardcore including limited health, but it failed to land with players who thought it lacked hitmakers, a kill feed, and opted for no HUD instead of limited HUD.

While we’ll have to wait for the in-depth blog to arrive during the week of January 23, it seems like the traditional Hardcore experience that CoD players know and love will arrive in Modern Warfare Season 2.
