Modern Warfare 2 adds new reporting system

In an effort to combat toxic players, the Modern Warfare 2 developers have added an overhauled reporting system that allows them to completely mute teammates in the voice chat.

The Call of Duty community has always had to put up with toxic players that ruin the game through cheating, and the Modern Warfare 2 developers combat this problem through the RICOCHET anti-cheat system.

Toxic players also cause problems in other ways, such as harassing other players in the voice chat. Now, Infinity Ward have responded to this too by introducing a new reporting system.

On November 7, the Call of Duty developers announced the new system on Twitter and explained that the moderators can restrict player features if someone is engaging in offensive voice chat.

That player will be muted globally from all in-game voice chat features, and the system can also restrict text chat features so that they don’t abuse that either. This is meant to ensure that you don’t have to put up with toxic teammates in Modern Warfare 2.

MW2’s in-game reporting system also lets you report players for spamming the text chat and for having an offensive username or clan tag. You can also provide context by filling in the “more details” tab in the report.

The feature is also confirmed to be in Warzone 2.0, and the developers stated that this change is continuing their “commitment to delivering the best gameplay experience for players” in both titles.

Activision revealed in September that they banned over 60,000 accounts in the Modern Warfare 2 beta, and players have to go through the new Code of Conduct before hopping into the game. The developers are always taking steps to ensure there is no toxicity in the game.
