Microsoft has made an offer to Sony to make Call of Duty titles available on the PlayStation Plus subscription service as part of their efforts to acquire Activision Blizzard.

In early 2022, it was announced that Microsoft wanted to acquire Activision Blizzard, the video game publisher known for the Call of Duty series and much more, and they have hit a few road bumps throughout this process.

Competitors like Sony have been attempting to interfere with this deal. Now, a new report claims that Microsoft has a new offer for Sony to aid the completion of the Activision Blizzard acquisition.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Microsoft has offered Sony the rights to feature Call of Duty titles on PlayStation Plus. All members of this paid subscription service may be able to access the franchise’s entire catalog.

If Sony accepts this offer, it’s possible that we may also see day one launches for Call of Duty games on PlayStation Plus. At the time of writing, Sony reportedly hasn’t accepted any deal from Microsoft.

Sony continues to oppose the acquisition out of concern for what it could mean for the franchise on its platforms. The CoD franchise features some of the best-selling annual titles, with Modern Warfare 2 setting new records for the series in 2022.

Sony wants to avoid a deal that could potentially result in these titles no longer being available on PlayStation. To allay these worries, Microsoft offered a 10 year deal to keep CoD titles on Sony’s platform.

Microsoft have confirmed that they will release CoD titles on the Nintendo Switch, and it remains to be seen if Sony chooses to accept the offer to put the franchise on the PlayStation Plus subscription service.
