JGOD reveals “slept-on” Warzone 2 rifle that rivals best SMGs at close-range

Warzone 2 guru JGOD has broken down the best close-range weapons in Season 3, and there’s an Assault Rifle that he feels the community is neglecting despite its impressive TTK.

Warzone 2 Season 3 shook up the meta in a number of ways. The arrival of the Intervention and Cronen Squall, along with buffs and nerfs to the existing lineup of weapons, drastically altered which guns were most powerful.

This has left many players scrambling to find the best loadout for each situation, especially at close-range. SMGs like the Vaznev-9k and VEL 46 were hit with nerfs in Season 3, making the short-range meta more competitive than ever.

Luckily, JGOD has revealed that there’s actually an Assault Rifle that can hold its own against the game’s best SMGs, even though very few players are actually using it.

In his April 23 video, JGOD broke down the best short-range weapons in Warzone 2, and named the Chimera as an “honorable mention.”

Despite a pick rate of just 1.2% according to WZ Ranked, the CoD expert found the fast-firing Assualt Rifle still competes with the most popular options. The AR’s practical TTK came out at around 525ms, almost identical to that of the Lachmann Sub and Vaznev.

“It kills as fast or faster than pretty much everything in the game at close-range,” JGOD explained. “On top of that, it actually has more range than some of the weapons we’re going to see on today’s list.” Check out JGOD’s best close-range Chimera loadout in Warzone 2 below.

JGOD’s best Chimera loadout in Warzone 2 Season 3

Barrel: 6.5” EXF VORPAL
Laser: 1MW Quick Fire Laser
Stock: TRX-56 Stock
Rear Grip: Bruen Flash Grip
Magazine: 45 Round Mag

JGOD started his best Warzone 2 Chimera loadout with the 6.5” EXF VORPAL and Bruen Flash Grip, buffing the AR’s movement and ADS speed, as well as its overall damage range. He also went for the 1MW Quick Fire Laser, to ensure you’re always getting the first shot in.

The YouTuber also wanted to curb some of the Chimera’s recoil, so he added the TRX-56 Stock for better stability and control. Finally, he equipped 45 Round Mags so you can rip through multiple enemies before reloading.

Using this setup, JGOD demonstrated that the Chimera is extremely easy to use up to the 25 meters mark, and is capable of killing enemies as quickly as any other close-range weapons in the game.
