Is there a Resurgence map in Warzone 2?

Large-scale battle royale isn’t for everyone, so does Warzone 2 contain any kind of smaller Resurgence map for players to experience?

Warzone 2’s star attraction is undoubtedly Al Mazrah for full-blown battle royale matches. But is there a smaller Resurgence map for those looking for respawning and tight-knit gameplay?

In the game’s early months, the OG Warzone experience let players drop into the fictional location of Verdansk and compete against over 100 other players until one player, duo, trio, or squad was left standing.

Eventually, the devs decided to add to the game’s repertoire of maps by launching the much smaller Rebirth Island map. Intended for smaller lobbies, Rebirth Island served as Warzone’s first ‘Resurgence’ map which focused on respawning, in comparison to Verdansk’s more one-and-done approach – save for the Gulag.

Fortune’s Keep was another popular Resurgence map addition as time went on, and with Warzone 2 currently only having Al Mazrah, many are wondering whether there are plans to drop a small Resurgence map, especially since Warzone 1 re-launched without Rebirth Island.

Does Warzone 2 have a Resurgence map?

February 15, 2023, will see not only the launch of Warzone 2 Season 2 but the brand new Ashika Island Resurgence map.

The new season was delayed by a couple of weeks, but there don’t appear to be any new delays, so Warzone 2 players will finally have a fully-fledged Resurgence game mode and map to enjoy.

Ashika Island compares quite favorably to previous Resurgence maps in terms of size with it being bigger than Rebirth Island and slightly smaller than Fortune’s Keep. Also, there is a cool Easter Egg and tie-into Black Ops Cold War Zombies that players will appreciate too.

It might also please certain CoD fans to know that High Moon Studios have created Ashika Island just like they did Fortune’s Keep.

There is still no word as yet on the status of the previous Warzone Resurgence maps – Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep. Our best guess would be that they will be slowly integrated into the game over the course of several seasons, more so to let the new map breathe.
