Blizzard confirmed some great news for Diablo 4 fans who prefer handheld consoles. Here’s what you need to know about the Diablo 4 Steam Deck release and how to synchronize your game with other platforms.

Diablo 4 is the fastest-selling Blizzard game of all time, and even if its player count is currently unstable, fans want to try it out on Steam Deck. While it’s available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, some think that Diablo’s latest installment would work great on a handheld gaming device.

Luckily for fans, Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4 will end its exclusivity with Battle.net, and would start giving official support to a Steam version. However, this doesn’t mean players will be able to run the same version they had on other platforms on their Steam Deck.

Is Diablo 4 on Steam Deck?

Yes, the Steam Deck can run Diablo 4, and you can download the official Steam version as of October 17, 2023.

Steam Deck users will be able to start downloading Diablo 4 at 10 a.m. PDT, but won’t be able to run it until it’s fully installed (since it doesn’t have a pre-install option).

You can also run Diablo 4 on Steam Deck through Proton, a tool that improves how the Steam Deck system recognizes non-Steam libraries.

Even if you already own a Diablo 4 version on other platforms, you’ll need to get the game again to play it on Steam or Steam Deck. After buying it, you’ll have to connect it to a Battle.net account to enable cross-platform play.

If you don’t want to buy the game again, you can try to download Battle.net on your device, add it as a non-steam game, and run it through Proton.

Once you’re done with the installation, Diablo 4 should run smoothly on your Steam Deck at lower graphics settings. For more information on the game’s performance, you can check out the minimum and recommended system settings for Diablo 4.
