Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale titles out there, and if you’re wondering whether or not you can play with your friends regardless of platform, then we’ve got the answer. Here’s everything you need to know about crossplay in Apex Legends.

With Season 18 of Apex Legends here, there is a plethora of fun new content for fans of the battle royale title to check out, such as Revenant rework that affects the Legend’s abilities kit and numerous weapon buffs.

Players that want to hop into Apex Legends matches with their friends are curious about the game’s crossplay capabilities. This feature would allow you to play with your friends between PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Origin, and Steam.

Here’s everything you need to know about crossplay in Apex Legends.

Does Apex Legends support crossplay?

Yes, Apex Legends supports crossplay but you and your friends will need to be in a party when the matchmaking begins if you want to play together on different platforms. You’ll then be thrown into a lobby with players on both PC and consoles.

Since Apex Legends features full crossplay capabilities, PC players can hop into lobbies with their friends on both current and last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and the Nintendo Switch.

You can play Apex Legends with friends across platforms using crossplay.

How to add friends in Apex Legends using crossplay

To find your friends in Apex Legends on any platform, you just need to select the Find Friend option in the Friends menu. This will allow you to search for players on different platforms through their usernames.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Start up and log in to Apex Legends.
  2. Open up the Friends menu from the main lobby screen.
  3. Click the Find Friend option.
  4. Enter the player’s in-game username and hit search.
  5. Select their profile from the drop-down menu to add them.

Since the game will automatically look for any player matching that name on any system, you will have to select the username that matches the platform that they are playing on.

If you want to change how players can search for you then visit privacy settings, and select “Allow users to search for me by.”

You can choose to let others find you through your:

  • Email address
  • PSN Online ID for PlayStation 4 and 5
  • Xbox Live gamertag for Xbox One and X|S
  • Nintendo Nickname for Nintendo Switch
  • Steam Account name

How to disable crossplay in Apex Legends

Crossplay is automatically enabled in Apex Legends, and you can turn the feature off by heading to the settings menu. Disabling it will reduce the number of potential players that you can find during matchmaking.

However, limiting the number of players that you can join a match with will also lead to longer waiting times in the lobby.

For that reason, we recommend that you keep cross-platform play enabled.

Disabling crossplay reduces the number of potential players that you can find during Apex Legends matchmaking.

Is there cross-progression in Apex Legends?

Apex Legends currently does not feature cross-progression, so you can’t keep any of your unlocked items when playing the game on another system, even when using the same EA account.

However, Respawn understands the benefits of cross-progression, and they have confirmed that it’s being worked on. Although we don’t have an official date, it will be added to the game at some point in the future.
