Sprint-to-fire speed is a vital stat to consider when playing fast-paced shooters, and there’s a method Apex Legends players can use to shoot almost immediately after sprinting. Here’s how to ‘Sprintout Cancel’ in Apex Legends.

When playing fast-paced shooters such as Call of Duty or Apex Legends, aggressive players need to be conscious of their sprint-to-fire speed. This is the time it takes to raise your gun and fire when coming out of a sprint, and heavier weapons such as LMGs typically have a much slower sprint-to-fire speed.

However, an Apex Legends player has found a clever trick that almost eliminates any sprint-to-fire time, and here’s how you can do it yourself.

How to Sprintout Cancel in Apex Legends

When playing on mouse and keyboard, Apex Legends players must press the ‘Inspect Weapon’ button when sprinting to reduce the sprint-to-fire time. This will cancel the sprint-to-fire animation, allowing players to almost immediately start shooting.

Here’s everything you need to do:

  1. Launch Apex Legends
  2. Open the Mouse and Keyboard settings and bind Inspect Weapon to a key that’s easy to access (e.g F)
  3. When sprinting, press the Inspect Weapon button and then the Fire button immediately after
  4. Use the Sprintout Cancel trick to rush enemies without worrying about sprint-out time

Reddit user itsFlicked claims to have discovered the trick, showing the difference between a regular sprint-to-fire and ‘Sprintout Canceling.’ Usually, it’ll take 0.26 seconds to bring up the gun, but pressing Inspect lowers this to only 0.05 seconds. Plus, it works for every weapon type, making it especially useful for heavy LMGs or Shotguns at close range.

It’s unclear if the Sprintout Cancel trick can also be replicated on consoles. Controller players can turn the Survival Slot off in the Settings to use the D-Pad to inspect their weapon, but it’s unlikely to be any quicker than a regular sprintout.
