How to make Cayo Perico Heist prep easier in GTA Online
GTA Online players have discovered a new trick that allows you to skip a huge section of the security code prep mission for the Cayo Perico Heist and finish it quicker with the help of your submarine.
The Cayo Perico Heist update served as Grand Theft Auto V’s first-ever map expansion and has brought new content to the world of Los Santos. It requires you to infiltrate the private island of the notorious El Rubio and steal some evidence.
Since the heist has been available from December 14, GTA Online players have had ample time to discover new ways of tackling the different heist prep missions. One of these has you escape from the casino after securing El Rubio’s key security codes.
This can prove to be difficult as you’ll then have to battle against the cops. Luckily, there is a neat trick you can use to avoid this hassle altogether.
How to complete the Cayo Perico Heist prep quickly in GTA Online
This trick was discovered by Reddit user GroundbreakingIron4 who explained how it works in the GTA Glitches subreddit. It involves you parking your Kostaka submarine by the NOOSE headquarters and then dying.
Here’s how you can complete this heist prep mission easily:
- Park your submarine by the NOOSE HQ
- Visit the Casino for the security code prep mission
- Take down the guards
- Kill the head of security and secure the codes
- Blow yourself up with explosives
If you’ve followed these instructions correctly you’ll have completed the prep mission. You can blow yourself up after taking out the head of security and this will let you skip the entire fight against the police backup while trying to escape.
You don’t have to worry about death resulting in a mission fail since you’ll get to progress if you’ve already secured the codes. You’ll be teleported outside the NOOSE headquarters without having to deal with any cops.
If you’re out of explosives then there’s also an alternative way to perform this trick. User aidanj97 pointed out in the thread that if you let the security guards kill you after acquiring the codes, you’ll spawn away from the casino without having to blow yourself up.
You can attempt this in either of the two ways we mentioned, but the explosives route is definitely quicker since you don’t have to spend time heading towards the guards. This makes it the method that’s most likely to be used by speed-runners.
Whichever route you decide to go, this trick is extremely useful and worth trying out if you’re about to tackle the heist prep mission. Be sure to explore the expansion as there are a ton of fun activities that you can enjoy in Cayo Perico, such as finding easter eggs.
